Russian Academic Society at the present stage
Russian academic society has been recreated in 1999, due to the efforts of the plead of eminent Russian-speaking scientists of Estonia: M. Bronstein, N. Bassel, V. Parol, L. Golub, A. Kuzmin, J. Livshic, V. Nemchinov, A. Puro and others. Professor V. Parol became the first chairman of board of Russian academic society. Nowadays the society is headed by Dr. of Science (Technic), professor V. Grigorenko.
As academician M. Bronstein stressed “the reconstruction of the Russian academic society existed in Estonia till 1940 was one of the best ideas which have arisen in the Russian-speaking environment”.
For the last years the numerical structure of society has increased twice and today numbers 120 scientists of most different specialities and age. The territorial field of activity of Russian academic society has also gradually extended having fallen outside the limits of Tallinn. For last year three regional branches in territory of Estonia have been created: in Tartu - under the direction of professor A.Lushchik, in Kohtla-Jarve - under the direction of the senior lecturer V.Andreev, in Pjarnu – under the direction of the writer G.Vereschagin. These branches have very serious scientific potential, they unite academicians, doctors and candidates of sciences, masters.
Lately the structure and membership of Associated scientific council of society have been developed and confirmed, variety of scientific sections is created, among which are - economy section (the head - professor H. Barabaner), business management section (the head - professor V.Nemchinov), section of social sciences (the head — professor V.Parol), jurisprudence section (the head – professor JU. Livshits) and others.
Among the major (priority) directions of activity of the modern Russian academic society it is possible to name the following:
- assistance to develop scientific and cultural potential, including scientific researches and preparation of scientific and pedagogical shots in Russian language in Estonia;
- maintenance of Russian cultural and scientific heritage;
- consolidation of Russian scientific and cultural elite;
- establishment and development of scientific and cultural contacts to the Estonian cultural and scientific elite, and also with foreign scientists and art workers;
- participation and development of intercommoned dialogue in Estonia, strengthening multi-culture of the Estonian society.
As V. Grigorenko stressed «consolidation of Russian scientific and cultural elite, maintenance of Russian cultural and scientific heritage, establishment of contacts to the Estonian scientific circles, with art workers, fastening of Estonia multi-culture society - these the most serious and the sharpest today problems we have written down in the updated documents - the program and the charter of Russian academic society.
To achieve these objects the society is engaged in publishing, the organisation of scientifically-practical seminars and conferences, trainings and courses to further improve the quality of teaching and etc.
By illustration it is necessary to notice that for the past 15 years our academic society has managed to create the real educational base for learning, for young experts training, to develop more than 30 textbooks and manuals and to publish them. By the efforts of Society 11 volumes of the collective works «Scientific notes» is published.
All it means that the scientific potential of our scientists, members of Russian academic society, has appeared to be very great and, fortunately, in demand.
